The Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya today paid a visit to former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani at his residence to congratulate him on being honoured with the highest civilian award of India “Bharat Ratna”.

Dattatreya also congratulated the Government of India for recognizing Advani’s invaluable contributions to the country and conferring him with this prestigious award.

He said, “I was delighted and blessed to meet the stalwart with such a towering personality.”

After meeting Advani at his residence in Delhi, Dattatreya said, “We undertook a discussion down memory lane and exchanged pleasantries. He smiled and laughed at the good memories we exchanged during our journey together in the late eighties till 2014 to make the nation a better place.”

The Governor said that Advani’s contributions have significantly shaped the landscape for the growth of modern India. He provided instrumental leadership and showcased his capability of being a “statesman” in steering the country in the right direction.

Dattatreya wished Advani good health and longevity so that his august presence keeps the young leaders in the righteous path of nation-building.

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal stated that the Election Department’s preparations for the Lok Sabha General Elections are done. Notification for elections in Haryana will be issued on April 29.

Nomination papers can be filed by May 6, 2024. Voting in Haryana will take place on May 25, 2024, in the sixth phase.

Anurag Agarwal said that voters are the most crucial part of the electoral process, so it is their primary responsibility to vote impartially without any inducement or pressure.

He emphasized that the Election Department is running a continuous campaign to educate voters and to increase voter turnout. In this series, the Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer of Faridabad took a unique initiative and administered the oath to more than 8.5 lakh people to vote together.

Similarly, awareness campaigns are being conducted in other districts as well. Many districts have also created election icons at the district level, conveying the message of voting importance and democracy to citizens, he added.

Anurag Agarwal appealed to voters and said to come out of their homes on May 25, 2024, and vote at the polling stations.
