Haryana becomes the first state in the country to implement comprehensive crèche policy for Child Welfare: Governor

Haryana has become the first state in the country to implement a comprehensive crèche policy aimed at ensuring the well-being of children and enhancing the economic empowerment of women.

Currently, 572 Anganwadi cum crèches and 273 stand alone crèches are functional across the state.This was stated by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya in his address to the first day of Budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.

He said that the state’s initiatives are driven by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and are aimed at uplifting women and children through multiple welfare schemes.

The Governor further shared that the empowerment of women is a top priority for the state government. Haryana is committed to making women self-reliant, with the goal of enabling 5 lakh women in the state to become ‘Lakhpati Didi’. Already, 2 lakh women have achieved this milestone.

In furtherance of the vision under ‘Namo Drone Didi,’ a target has been set to provide drone pilot training to 5,000 women in the state. So far, 100 women have been successfully trained to operate drones, and they have been provided with drones worth up to Rs. 8 lakh free of cost.

Highlighting the government’s dedication to women’s welfare, the Governor mentioned the launch of the ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 9, 2024, from Panipat.

The scheme is aimed at economically empowering women across the nation.

He said that the loan limit for women entrepreneurs under the ‘Haryana Matri Shakti Udyamita Yojana’ has been increased from Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh, effective from November 13, 2024.

Governor Dattatraya also highlighted several other initiatives that prioritize the health of women and children, including financial assistance for pregnant and lactating mothers under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana’, support under the Mukhyamantri Maternity Assistance Scheme, fortified milk distribution under the ‘Mukhyamantri Dudh Uphaar’ scheme, and free sanitary pads for adolescent girls and women from poor families under the ‘Mahila and Kishori Samman Yojana’.

Additionally, Mission Indradhanush continues to vaccinate pregnant women and children to prevent diseases.He said that to ensure active participation of women in Panchayati Raj Institutions, they have been given 50 percent representation, starting from December 7, 2020.

About 64,500 self-help groups are operational in the state. Now, 33 percent of ration depots in the state would be allocated to women, with 252 ration depots having already been allotted to them in the past four months.
