Gurugram cyber-crime unit busts gang wanted for 200 cases of cyber fraud

As part of the state-wide crackdown against cyber criminals, Gurugram cyber police has nabbed 7 cyber fraudsters including a minor. The accused traced through Pratibimb app are involved in frauds amounting to around 16 crores across the country.

The police have recovered Rs 4.20 lakh in cash, 4 mobile phones and two SIM cards from their possession.

According to police the gang has around 5000 thousand complaints against them in which 215 FIR’s have been filed across the country wherein 13 cases were registered in Haryana.

The accused were involved in blackmail through lewd video calls, they would make the victims transfer this money online. The gang comprised residents of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Bihar.

Meanwhile the police has also unearthed yet another instance of connivance between bank officials and cyber criminals.

The Gurugram cyber police has arrested an employee of RBL bank involved in cyber fraud. The accused used to provide bank accounts to cyber thugs by taking Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 for each. The accused was produced in a city court today and sent into judicial custody.

According to the police the arrested accused identified as Amit Kumar was arrested from Delhi on March 28. He was taken on four days police remand where during the interrogation he revealed that he opened accounts in RBL Bank, Hauz Khas branch in Delhi.

He filled fake forms and created fraudulent accounts which were then sold to cyber criminals. Till now he has sold 32 such accounts.
