Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit has again written a letter to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann after reportedly not receiving any response to the correspondence on drug issue.
“I am obliged to write to you once again regarding my correspondence dated August 1, 2023. Despite these letters from me, you have not yet provided the information I have requested. It appears that you are deliberately refusing to provide the information I have requested.I regret that you have failed to provide me with the information requested by me whereas under the express provisions of Article 167 of the Constitution of India it is mandatory for the Chief Minister to provide all information requested by the Governor regarding the administrative affairs of the State,” wrote Governor to CM Mann.
In the letter, Governor also accused CM Mann for allegedly showed indignity by making unnecessary and inappropriate comments which he described as extremely hostile and offensive not only to him personally but to the office of the Governor.
“Far from providing the information I sought, you have shown indignity by making unnecessary and inappropriate comments which can be described as extremely hostile and offensive not only to me personally but to the office of the Governor. This is contrary to the observation of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India that “Though this Court is aware of the importance of free speech and expression and the fundamental value enshrined in Article 19(1)(a), it becomes necessary to emphasize that the constitutional discussion should be conducted with dignity and a sense of mature statesmanship. Unfortunately, despite these comments, you have made the following offensive comments on June 20, 2023, in gross violation of the above observations of the Hon’ble Supreme Court,” Governor added.
