General Observer reviews security arrangements in critical and model polling stations of Gill constituency

General Observer of Ludhiana Parliamentary constituency Divya Mittal, IAS, on Monday reviewed the security arrangements at the critical polling stations and model polling stations falling under Gill assembly segment of Ludhiana Parliamentary constituency. Gill assembly segment is expenditure sensitive segment.

Accompanied by Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) Gill assembly segment, Randeep Singh Heer, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Kritika Goyal, General Observer Divya Mittal visited the critical polling stations established in Government Middle School, Jassian and Government Primary Smart School Rjapur village.

Divya Mittal enquired about the deployment of security personnel, transportation of EVMs and the facilities for the polling staff/voters in the polling stations. She asked ARO to ensure that the windows of the rooms, where polling booth would be set up, should be covered properly to ensure vote secrecy. She asked the officials to ensure action against the persons causing vulnerability in the area to maintain law and order.

General Observer Divya Mittal also visited model polling stations including Government Senior Secondary School, Ladhowal and Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Hambran. She expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the district administration.

ARO Randeep Singh Heer said that at the critical polling stations, elaborate security arrangements will be put in place that include web casting, deployment of micro observers, CCTV cameras, deployment of central paramilitary forces (CPMF), among other security measures to ensure free and fair elections. Sector officers appointed here will be keeping a constant vigil on their respective polling booths.

ARO Heer further said that working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO) Sakshi Sawhney, elaborate arrangements are also being at all the polling stations to facilitate the voters. The administration will ensure sheds, fans, lemonade/sweetened water etc. for the voters.

ARO Heer further urged the residents to make full use of the website (voteforludhiana.in) which has been launched by the administration for facilitating the residents. Through this, voters can track the crowd at the polling centers on the day of the election, allowing them to go to the centre to vote according to their convenience. The information on the website would be updated after every half an hour.
