Gangster-terror nexus case: NIA confiscates property of designated terrorist Ramandeep Singh in Punjab

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has escalated its pursuit of individuals associated with the pro-Khalistani gangster-terrorist nexus by confiscating immovable property belonging to designated individual terrorist Ramandeep Singh, known as Raman, in Punjab on Friday.

Acting upon directives from a special NIA court in the national capital, the anti-terror agency confiscated the wanted accused’s land measuring 31 Kanal, 9 Marlas, and 4 Sarsahi in Jhok Nodh Singh village, Tibbi Kalan area, Ferozepur district of Punjab.Raman was declared a proclaimed offender by the NIA Special Court on July 27, 2023.

This confiscation is part of ongoing investigations into terror activities perpetrated by leaders and members of various proscribed terrorist organisations, including the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), and International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF).

NIA probes have unearthed connections between these terror outfits and organised criminal gangs operating nationwide, involved in smuggling arms, ammunition, explosives, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from across the border to fuel terrorism in India.

The case was initially registered by the NIA suo moto on August 20, 2022, and investigations are actively underway.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state on Wednesday, has arrested Gurmukh Singh, Block Development and Panchayats Officer (BDPO), Pakhowal, Ludhiana district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned panchayats officer have been arrested on a complaint lodged by Paramjit Singh, Panchayat Secretary, posted at block Pakhowal, Ludhiana.

He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the said officer has been demanding a bribe of Rs 3,5000 for issuing his salary along with three other panchayat secretaries working in the said office. Now they have collected Rs 30,000 by making contribution but didn’t want to pay the bribe.

The spokesperson informed that after a preliminary inquiry about this complaint, a VB team laid a trap in which accused BDPO has been arrested red handed while he was accepting a bribe money of Rs 30000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.
