As many as 5408 employees were chosen by the District Administration for polling duty across district in the first randomization led by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Amit Kumar Panchal held here today at DAC.
Giving details of the first randomization, Deputy Commissioner said that the total 5408 poll officilas will be randomized.The remaining officials will be deployed as polling staff for total 791 polling station in the district encompassing the four assembly segments namely Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi, Bholath and Phagwara. Panchal said that each of the polling station has one presiding officer, one Assistant Presiding Officers besides two polling officials.
The randomization was carried out through Next Gen DISE software.
Deputy Commissioner Panchal said that the Kapurthala district has total number of 620819 electorates including 146313 in Kapurthala, 148177 in Sultanpur Lodhi, 133787 in Bholath and 192545 in Phagwara constituencies. He said that the EVMs randomization would be done on May 2 while the first training of polling official had been scheduled for May 5. The training will be carried out in two shifts while second training will take place on May 25, 2024.
Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration had fully geared up for the smooth conduct of elections. He said that as many as 20 model polling station would be setup five in each assembly segment besides four pink polling stations one each in assembly constituency. Similarly, one dedicated polling station for youth is being setup in Kapurthala as well as four polling stations for PWD voters one in each assembly segment.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shikha Bhagat, Election Tehsildar Manjit Kaur, District Informatics Officer Sanjeev Kumar ,Election Kanungo Pooja Kakkar and other officials were also present .
