Ferozepur, May 31
The Drug Disposal Committees of high and district level panels of Ferozepur Range police on Tuesday destroyed heroin, habit forming tablets, and capsules. The contraband seized in 34 cases (2 of Ferozepur, 8 of Fazilka, 7 of Tarn Taran) in Ferozepur, was consigned to flames at the designated place.
The seized drugs were disposed of today by the High Level Drug Disposal Committee and District Level Drug Disposal Committees, under the tutelage of Ranjit Singh Dhillon, DIG, Ferozepur, in the presence of Gurmit Singh Chauhan, SSP Tarn Taran, Bhupinder Singh,, SSP Ferozepur, Smt.Aveent Kaur, SSP Fazilka along with SPs and DSPs, keeping in view the guidelines of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, at the premises of M/s Sukhbir Agro Engineering Limited (SAEL) at Hakumat Singh Wala.
Divulging with the details, DIG Ferozepur Range, Ranjit Singh Dhillon said, the disposal done by High Level Drug Disposal Committee was – in 2 cases of Ferozepur 22.62 kg heroin, in 8 cases of Fazilka 88.375 kg heroin, 3,43,700 tablets, in 7 cases of Tarn Taran 62.240 kg heroin, 16,400 tablets, 1,184 capsules making a total disposal of 172.677 kg heroin, 3,60,100 tablets and 1,184 capsules in 17 cases.
He further said the Punjab Police on directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is acting on mission mode to rid the state of the drug menace. He pointed out that the vigil against drug peddlers had been stepped up in the past. The drive against drugs will be a regular feature and further intensified, he added.
