Farmers to hold Kisan Yatra, state-level rally in Haryana

Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha jointly hold a press conference at Kisan Bhawan Chandigarh and decided that Kisan Yatra will be started in Haryana from May 7 and state level rally will be held in Kaithal on May 19.

The farmers are also holding a Rail-Roko campaign at Shambu railway station seeking the implementation of a legal guarantee for a minimum support price (MSP) for their agricultural produce. More than 100 trains are daily being disrupted due to the agitation of farmers putting a huge loss to the railways and inconvenience to the people who had pre-planned the ticket bookings for personal or official engagements.

Sarwan Singh Pandher, farmer leader representing Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Punjab said, it is the 17th day of protest by the farmers at Shambu railway station and it is the 81st day of protest going on the borders of Haryana.

Amarjit Khatkar, father of jailed farmer leader Anish Khatkar, Jaisingh Jalbera, father of Navdeep Singh, and Jasbir Singh, father of Gurkirat Singh presented their views at this conference.

He said that his son has gone to jail while protesting peacefully for the rights of crores of farmers and that he is with them in the future decisions taken by both fronts. He said that the 3 arrested farmers were treated by the police which is not acceptable in any democracy.

Farmer leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher, Kaka Singh Kotra, Manjit Singh Rai, Amarjit Singh Mohali, Abhimanyu Kohar, Sukhjit Singh, Gurinder Bhangu, Manjit Ghumana, Harikesh Kabarcha etc. were present at the press conference. Farmer leaders said that on completion of 100 days of the front on May 22, lakhs of farmers will gather at Shambhu, Khanuri, Dabwali, and Ratanpura front and strengthen the front.

He said that the Kisan Yatra will be started in Haryana from May 7, which will visit hundreds of villages of Haryana and bring to the attention of the people the atrocities committed by the BJP government on farmers, workers and youth in the last 10 years. A state-level rally of Haryana will be held in Kaithal on May 19, in which thousands of farmers will participate.
