Exhibition-cum-Talk to commemorate Veer Bal Diwas organized at GGDSD College Chandigarh

Readers’ Club of College Library Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh organized a rich collection of books and presentations at an Exhibition cum Talk today, to commemorate Veer Bal Diwas.

The Digital Exhibition showcased the remarkable life and sacrifice of the two Shahibzaads, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh. The Book Exhibition put on display prominent works exalting Sikh History and the sacrifices of the four Sahibzadas.

The event was inaugurated by the commencement of the Digital exhibition launched by Principal, Dr. Ajay Sharma. The exhibition was streamed through digital media across YouTube and digital screens in the College Library and IT Department of the College.

Dr. Ajay Sharma spoke at length about the martyrdom of the Chaar Sahibzaadas and stated that their sacrifice sets an unmatched example of faith defeating evil and is an undying inspiration for the present times.

He suggested that all present must learn to rise above the pettiness of every day and build morality and a sense of sacrifice inspired by the Sahibzadas.

Balwinder Singh, Department of Punjabi, and Dr. Amanpreet Kaur, Department of History enlightened all present about the life and lessons to be learned from the supreme sacrifice of the Chaar Sahibzaadas, Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh, and Fateh Singh.

The exhibitions and talks received a warm response from students and faculty of the college who gathered in good numbers to attend the event.

The event was culturally infused with the participation of students of the Readers Club who sang and rejoiced the audience with religious Shabad that incorporate the values from the lives of Guru Gobind Singh and Chaar Sahibzadas.

Winners of a Book Review Competition were also awarded on this auspicious occasion. First position was bagged by Neha Sharma, Aditya Mohan bagged the second prize, Awantika stood third, and the Ishpreet Kaur won the consolation prize. Dr Pratibha Sharma, Head, Department of Hindi, offered the vote of thanks. Langar was served thereafter.
