Punjab Finance, Excise and Taxataion Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Friday said that the Excise department has took initiative of issuing the maximum retail price list of the liquor along with the liquor permit for Marriage/private functions to save the common people from any loot at the hands of liquor mafia.
Disclosing this here in a press communiqué, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Excise department has been issuing this permit on the name of the concerned person mentioning the quality and quantity of liquor, and date and place of function and the person can purchase liquor from any vend in the district. The Minister further added that the applicant for such permit is only authorised to serve liquor to Private guests (On invitation only) and no quantity of liquor shall be sold to anyone for any consideration.
Finance Minister said that this measure would not only facilitates private individuals to purchase liquor for their private functions at reasonable prices but also assures that the purchase of liquor shall be made from licensed liquor shops only. He said that Excise department has been taking many such initiatives to discourage illegal liquor trade besides saving people from any kind of loot.
