Dev Samaj College of Education holds seminar on ‘Gender equality for a better future’

Chandigarh, October 6

In line with the commitment of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), NSS units of Dev Samaj College of Education (DSCE) 36, Chandigarh in collaboration with Peace club and Yuvsatta, organised an interactive seminar on “Gender equality for a better future” focusing on SDG 5: Gender Equality.

Olena Korzhykova, President of the Board of ‘Let Her In’, International Co- Founder and Director of Dom Spain, co-founder of NGO Open Europe was the chief speaker on this occasion. Ms Julia Vilafranca, Coordinator of Youth Programmes ‘Let Her In’ also graced the occasion.

Prof. Richa Sharma, Officiating Principal, DSCE, congratulated Sh. Parmod Sharma, President, NGO-Yuvsatta for taking the initiative to bring awareness about the emerging social issue of ‘Gender Equality’, and appreciated the efforts of NSS program officers and members of Peace club also.

The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of gender equality as a fundamental human right and a cornerstone for a sustainable future. Expert speakers from diverse fields shared insights on breaking down barriers, promoting equal opportunities, and addressing gender disparities in various spheres of life.

The seminar emphasized the role of education, empowerment, and policy changes in achieving a balanced and inclusive society. The event brought together thought leaders, social activists, educators, students, and community members to engage in meaningful discussions on creating a gender-equal society.

The interactive session allowed participants to share their experiences & pose questions thereby fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas between the students and the speakers.

The seminar concluded with a commitment to continue advocating gender equality and working towards creating a more equitable and just society for all.
