DC orders district health society to enhance surveillance to reduce birth at home cases

Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Vishesh Sarangal today asked the District health society to increase the surveillance to reduce the cases of birth at home especially in the areas of Phagwara and RCF.

Presiding over a meeting of district health society today, DC asked the health officials to start an awareness campaign to inform the weaker section population about mother and child care being provided at government hospitals at the time of delivery.

He also asked the Civil Surgeon to conduct a “head count“ survey regarding the newly born child in the areas falling under the Sub divisional hospitals at Panchata, Bholath and Dhilwan besides submitting the comprehensive report about it in next 15 days.

Mr Sarangal further asked all the SMOs to give more attention towards the immunisation of children especially ensuring BGG, MR (measles and rubella ) injections for the age group of 0-5 years.

Meanwhile, DC reviewed the efforts being taken to contain vector borne diseases like Dengue, Malaria, TB, adulteration of food etc.

To check the Dengue cases in the district, Deputy Commissioner has asked the health officials to visit all 10 blocks and hold meetings with private medical practitioners and medical stores to refer the cases to concerned civil hospitals for further testing and treatment.

Taking serious note of dengue larva at various locked houses of NRIs at Begowal, DC asked the Health, Nagar Panchayat and Rural Development officials to check the origin of larva at all these houses.

Asking officials to take stern action against smoking at the public places, Deputy Commissioner has directed them to constitute special teams comprising MC and Police officials to issue challans besides informing people about the ill effects of smoking.

While reviewing the performance of Aam Aadmi clinics at Sujokalia and Bhandal bet villages, more than 100 people got treatment alongwith testing and medicines daily .

A power point presentation was also presented by the health department about the awareness activities and treatment facilities being extended to the people of the district. It shows that 98% population covered under 1st dose of Covid vaccination , followed by 89 % with second dose.

Prominent amongst others ADC Phagwara Dr Nayan Jassal , Assistant commissioner Upinderjit kaur brar , Civil surgeon Dr Gurbinderbir kaur , DPRO Subeg singh and other members of District task force, all SMOs were present in the meeting.
