Congress believes in public welfare, not in giving benefits to select people: Manish Tiwari

Senior Congress leader and India Alliance’s joint candidate from Chandigarh parliamentary seat, Manish Tiwari, has said that unlike the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress believes in public welfare and not in giving benefits to a select few.

Tiwari, while interacting with people at various places during the election campaign in the Union Territory today, said that people’s welfare will always be our top priority, no matter what our opponents say about it.

During this time Tiwari along with many Congress leaders and workers including Chandigarh Congress President HS Lucky visited different parts of the city and met people. Where he talked about various issues and problems faced by people. He also assured me to resolve all these issues as soon as possible.

He said that the election manifesto of the Congress, which has been named ‘Nyaya Patra’, is a manifesto of justice for the common people in the country with five justices.

Tiwari said that during the last ten years, the BJP created a select and privileged group of capitalists, while Congress has guaranteed justice for youth, farmers, women, and workers, apart from social justice. The candidate of the India Alliance said that currently, the unemployment rate in the country is the highest in the last 45 years.

He questioned what happened to Prime Minister Modi’s promise to create 2 crore jobs every year. He said that according to this, twenty crore jobs should have been created by now. While the government has failed to fill the pending 30 lakh vacancies in various departments.

He emphasized that the first thing that the Government of India will do is to fill the 30 lakh vacant jobs immediately.

Apart from this, the government will also provide “Pahli Naukri Pakki” along with right to apprenticeship. Under this scheme, every new graduate or diploma holder in the country will get an apprenticeship with an assured income of one lakh rupees for that period in the first year.

 

Similarly, one lakh rupees will be paid every year to one woman of every needy family across the country to improve the plight of the poor.

 

The former Union minister said the Congress has done so in the past, bringing in the Food Security Act and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), which revolutionized rural employment.

 

He said that even after the election victory in Karnataka and Telangana last year, the Congress fulfilled all the guarantees, which directly benefited the common people and not only the privileged few.

 

Meanwhile, State Congress President Lucky said that the Congress has always worked towards the development and welfare of the common class of the country. When the government of the party comes, schemes related to public interest will be introduced and it will be ensured that the common people of the country get maximum benefit from it.

Among others, Chandigarh Congress Treasurer Vikram Chopra, Roni, Harmeet Kamboj, Dr. Ajaib Singh, Sahil Chavad, Harbhajan Singh, Jarnail Singh were also present.
