The Aam Aadmi Party has proven the power of positive campaigning in front of the whole world today. In just a decade, the Aam Aadmi Party has formed governments in Delhi and Punjab & won the MCD, besides already having MLAs, Mayors, Councillors & Zila Parishad members all over the country. On the occasion, AAP National Convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal issued a video message congratulating party workers while thanking them for putting time and effort in building positive, merit-focused campaigns. He said, “Congratulations to the whole nation, with the public’s blessings, Aam Aadmi Party has achieved the ‘National Party’ status in merely 10 years. Only a few parties in the country have the status of a national party, now the Aam Aadmi Party has also joined them. The people of Gujarat have made AAP a national party, legally AAP is now a national party as per the votes polled in Gujarat. Gujarat is considered a fortress of BJP, we succeeded in breaching its fortress and got around 13 percent votes. This time we were successful in breaching the fortress, next time all of us together will be successful in conquering it.”

Arvind Kejriwal said, “I would like to congratulate all the party workers and all the citizens of the country. Your Aam Aadmi Party has today become a National Party. The results of the state elections in Gujarat are still trickling in, but from the votes that have been counted so far, the people of Gujarat have changed the status of AAP into a National Party. The number of votes that AAP has received satisfies the requirement under the law to give it the status of a National Party. This is really good news as there are just a handful of parties in the country who have the status of being a national party. Your Aam Aadmi Party also comes under this prestigious category at the moment. It was just over 10 years ago that AAP was formed and within this short span of time we have managed to have our government in two states of the country and today we have also become a National Party. This is a huge achievement and lots of people are surprised at what the party has gone on to achieve, all thanks to the love and support of the people of the country.”

He said, “I would like to thank the people of Gujarat for giving us such love and support. I have been visiting Gujarat quite frequently over the last couple of months and I received a lot of love and support from the people over there, and for this I will be heavily indebted to the people of the state throughout my life. I got to learn a lot from the people of the state. Gujarat is also considered to be a stronghold of the BJP. In this election, AAP was able to create a hole in this stronghold of the BJP. So far, and let me tell you that the counting process is not yet over, we have received around 13 per cent of the votes that have been polled and that translates to over 39 lakh votes. So many of the people of Gujarat supported us in our first attempt and voted for us this time, and to them I am highly indebted. Like I said, this time we were successful in puncturing a hole in the stronghold of the BJP and with continued support from the people of the state, maybe by the time of the next election we may be successful in conquering this stronghold of the BJP.”

He continued, “My party ran a very positive campaign in Gujarat and I am extremely happy about it. We did not indulge in mudslinging and abusing our political rivals. All we did was we said that in Delhi and Punjab, these are the works that we have done, and given an opportunity in Gujarat, these are the works that we would go on to do in Gujarat. This is what makes us distinct as compared to the other political parties in the country. We are different from others as we do not indulge in politics of caste and politics of oppression and abusing and beating up political rivals. Unfortunately, this is the kind of politics that our country has seen in most of its 75-year-old history. It is for the first time that a political party speaks about issues that affect the people. We speak about making India the No. 1 country in the world. We speak about creating schools and hospitals and providing electricity and water to the people of the country. We will continue to run a positive campaign in whichever election we go on to fight in this country. Aam Aadmi Party consists of honest, hardworking citizens of this nation and we will continue to change the face of politics in this country. So once again, I would like to thank the people of this country and the people of Gujarat for giving us so much love and support and I would like to thank all of our party workers for working hard and making AAP a National Party.”

CM Arvind Kejriwal concluded, “I would also like to congratulate all of our party workers in Gujarat for running such a fantastic campaign. Our volunteers and party workers in Gujarat worked day and night to fight these elections and I would like to thank you all for this. It has been a tough few weeks and therefore I would like to tell our workers to take some time off and get refreshed. We still have a lot of work to do in Gujarat. I would also like to tell our party workers that the elections will come and go, but we need to keep working. Our party was formed to serve the people of this country. It is not as if since the elections are over, our party workers will stop serving the people of the state. I want our party workers to serve the people in their mohallas, villages and cities. The desire to serve the people should always be there, and serve everyone, irrespective of whom the people have voted for. If you serve the people well, the votes will come, but do not serve the people only with the intention to get their votes.”
