Chandigarh University unveils two-day annual cultural extravaganza, ‘CU Fest-2023’

The annual two-day youth festival of Chandigarh University, ‘CU Fest-2023’ commenced today at the Gharuan campus with a lot of excitement and fervor.

Thousands of students and faculty witnessed the cultural extravaganzas and breathtaking performances. Students from various departments of the University enthusiastically participated and exhibited their talents and skills.

The fest was formally inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Devinder Singh, Pro-Vice Chancellor Chandigarh University. Dr. Arvinder Singh Kang, Executive Director Student Affairs & Support Services and Dean Students’ Welfare; and Manish Jhangra, Deputy Director Department of Youth Welfare, were also present on the occasion.

The fest marked its opening today with competitions held in a variety of segments such as dance (solo, duet, and group categories), singing, on-the-spot painting and collage making, cartooning, clay modelling, rangoli, nukkad natak, open mic, DJ hunt, modeling, mime, mimicry, mono acting, and debate. It was followed by an EDM night full of entertainment, creating a vibrant and lively mood among the young crowd.

With an exciting line-up of performances and activities, the second day (29th April) of CU Fest 2023 will witness a battle of bands, singing, face painting, poster making, mehandi, installation best out-of-waste, open mic, dance, choreography, and debate competitions. The day will conclude with a sizzling fashion show by the Fashion & Design department of Chandigarh University.

Chandigarh University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Devinder Singh expressed his happiness on the opening of the year-long awaited event CU Fest-2023 that provides an opportunity to students to showcase their talents on a stage and brings a lot of enthusiasm among the crowd.

He added, “As an institution of Higher Education, Chandigarh University takes the responsibility of mentoring the young talents and encouraging them to follow their passion. The university takes pride for having nurtured some of the best talents in the fields of theatre, dance, and music.”
