The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has launched a special cleanliness drive ‘Ye Diwali-Swachhata Wali’ from October 15th to 27th October to keep the city clean and beautiful with the focus on reusing, reducing, and recycling under Swachh Bharat Mission.
Instructions were given in a meeting held today under the chairpersonship of Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh which was attended by all the senior officers of MCC including the Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineers, and Medical Officer of Health.
During the meeting, the Commissioner directed the concerned officers to clean the city streets, back lanes, parks, market areas, open spaces, road berms, etc. by deploying all its machinery and equipment before Diwali.
She directed them to prepare special task teams to deal with the pruning of trees, lifting of horticulture waste, and cleaning of road berms, market areas, and open spaces besides putting additional manpower for proper sanitation.
Additional machinery along with tractor trollies have been pressed into service to lift the malba, and horticulture waste from the open spaces. The Commissioner said that the special teams will also clean up the city after the Diwali festival.
She appealed to the citizens of the city beautiful for cooperation in keeping the city clean along with their homes. The Commissioner wished all Citizens a very happy, clean, and green Diwali.
