The Fact News Service
Ludhiana, March 8

The second truckload carrying prefabricated material for the four upcoming bridges over the Sidhwan Canal has been unloaded near the construction site here on Thursday. This material was transported from Durga Engineering (Yamuna Nagar, Haryana), where it was manufactured.

Earlier, the first truckload carrying the bridge material from New Life Infra (Kotkapura, Punjab) was transported to Ludhiana a few days ago.

As such, the prefabricated steel structure of two bridges have reached here.  Now, the steel structures for both bridges will be assembled, marking a significant step forward in the long-awaited bridge project.

Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora provided this update in a press release here on Friday. About a fifteen days ago, he had dispatched a team—along with NHAI personnel—to inspect both manufacturing facilities and ensure steady progress. Each bridge’s installation is expected to take at least a month.

It may be recalled here that the project was initiated due to Arora’s persistent efforts with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The project is expected to ease traffic congestion in the area.

Residents on both sides of the Sidhwan Canal were demanding construction of these bridges since long. Arora reiterated that once completed, the bridges will significantly improve traffic flow in South City, where rapid commercial expansion—including hotels, restaurants, and residential complexes—has led to congestion.

Arora is hopeful that these bridges will be operational by the end of April or early May.
