Jalandhar, May 5

Slamming the dictatorial decisions of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, while addressing a public meeting on Thursday said, that both the AAP and BJP were two sides of the same coin. “They may appear opposite to each other but they have got each other’s back. Their sole aim is to malign the image of the Indian National Congress, that not only raises people’s concerns, issues and problems in the Parliament but also stands by the voters during crisis situations,” said he.

Coming down hard on the latest development on the burning issue of female wrestlers protesting for their demands, Warring said, be it the Hindenburg research report, the sensational Pulwama disclosure, the Poonch attack or any such issue that made international headlines, BJP leaders have this habit of deliberately ignoring the issues that concern the people of the country and necessitates a thorough explanation from the govt.

Taking a jibe at Anurag Thakur’s visit to poll-bound Jalandhar, the state president said, following the footsteps of his masters, the Union sports minister ran away from Delhi to elude the situation. “Instead of campaigning in Jalandhar, he should have met the wrestlers protesting in Delhi, paid heed to their issue and concerns and addressed their legitimate demands. He is spreading fake propaganda on the soil of Punjab before Punjabis who have always stood for the oppressed and have raised voice against coercion,” said Warring, adding that the voters will give a befitting reply to the anti-people government for all the lies and frauds.

Advocating the saying that Punjabis are the best hosts in the world, Warring said “I warmly welcome the Union petroleum minister to Punjab on his visit to campaign in favour of the party candidate. But before he attempts to seek your votes, I urge the voters, especially women, to ask him where is the subsidized GAS cylinder, that was promised? Where is the cheaper Petrol and Diesel that was promised? Why the LPG cylinder is being sold at around 1100 instead of 500? The petroleum minister is answerable to each and every voter and it is his responsibility to address the valid queries of the countrymen,” said PPCC chief.

Condemning the anti-women stance of the BJP, Warring added that it was really appalling that the entire BJP cabinet had turned a blind eye towards the Olympic champions, who brought laurels to the country. He said that instead of securing justice to the daughters of the country, the entire anti-feminist lobby, including the so-called ‘saas and bahus’, have only become a mute spectator to the matter and were deliberately shielding the BJP leader in question.

Pointing out finger at the Union Sports Minister, Warring said, this seat is not going to make or mar BJP’s existence in the Centre, but the Sports Minster’s silence on such a sensitive issue, will keep haunting the entire fraternity for generations to come.

This ignorant behavior of the dictatorial government has ruined the country’s image on the international podium. As a brother of all the women wrestlers, I appeal to the Sports Minister to behave like the leader of the fraternity and immediately sack Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. It is time he sets an example before the country by supporting his party’s slogan “Beti Bachao…”, Warring said.

On AAP being the ‘B’ Team of BJP and vice versa, Warring said that both the parties have repeatedly cheated the voters. Be it BJP’s promise of bringing back Black Money, 2-Crore jobs, cheaper Petrol/Diesel, fighting inflation or be it AAP’s promise of quelling sand mafia, eliminating drug menace, Rs 1000 to women, justice in sacrilege case, better healthcare, better education or other such guarantees and promises, both the parties just deceived the voters and failed drastically on all fronts. It not only attempted to muzzle the voice of the voters but it also silenced the fourth pillar of democracy, the only reason why India slipped to 161th position in the World Press Freedom Index, added he.
