Chandigarh, October 19

The Bharatiya Janata Party today condemned the willful confrontation started by the Aam Aadmi Party government with the Governor apparently for crying persecution the way its counterpart was doing in Delhi.

In a statement, the state BJP general secretary Dr Subhash Sharma alleged that the AAP was willfully and repeatedly flouting rules and regulations in various appointments and trying to put the blame on the Governor.

“Better do your homework correctly than blame the Governor”, the BJP leader said, while remarking, “AAP government’s condition is like that of the proverbial bad workman who always blames his tools”.

Referring to the Governor’s letter to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann asking for removal of the PAU VC Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Dr Sharma said, instead of clarifying its position the AAP was seeking Governor’s apology obviously to cover up its own lapses and failures.

“It is the AAP government which owes an apology to the people of Punjab for repeatedly embarrassing eminent scientists and doctors like Dr Gosal and earlier Dr Gurpreet Singh Wander”, he said, while adding that all such appointments are to be made according to set rules and procedures.

The BJP leader asked the AAP government whether the Governor is not the Chancellor of the PAU and whether Chancellor’s approval was not mandatory for the VC’s appointment? “IF yes, who owes an apology to whom?” he asked, while asserting that it is the AAP government which should apologise to the Governor as well as to people of Punjab.

Dr Sharma pointed out, it is not only the Governor who has exposed their failures to follow rules and regulations, even the Punjab and Haryana High Court has on so many occasions overturned its decisions obviously for not following the rules and regulations.
