Chandigarh, September 6
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit released a book titled “The Ninth flower ” Best of Amrita Pritam at Press club, Sector 27, Chandigarh on September 5, 2022 in an event organised by Stellar Publishers and Sahitya Sangam Tricity.
The book is an English transcript transcreated from the Hindi originals by Jyoti Sabharwal.
The Administrator applauded the author for taking up a very challenging task of translating Amrita Pritam’s various genres of writing into English and making it accessible to a larger group of readers. He also added that the writers and thinkers are the intellectual capital of any nation who enrich it with their creative ideas and literature.
Indian writing in English, as the Administrator said, has sparked excitement and recognition across the world. Even greater laurels await us if we can expose the world to the flowering creativity of our vernacular literature.
Dr. Gauri Shankar, Professor Phul Chand Manav and Jupinderjit Singh, Special Correspondent of The Tribune Singh were also present during the event.
