Governor of Punjab and Administrator, Chandigarh, Banwari Lal Purohit laid the foundation stone of new building block of Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Kajheri on Friday in the presence of Member of Parliament, Kirron Kher, Advisor to the Administrator, Dharam Pal and Education Secretary, Purva Garg.
The Administrator addressed the students and teachers and reminded them about lives and achievements of great leaders like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. He said that we all should follow the thoughts and ideology of such great people in our life. He also wished the students very best for a better future.
Kirron Kher also expressed her wishes during her address while Education Secretary Purva Garg gave brief information about the proposed building and also about the achievements of the Education Department.
The extension of this school was long awaited by the residents of the area. The proposed new block will consist 33 rooms in 4 floors which will be completed in 18 months. The new building will cover 3793 sq. meters of land. It will cost around Rs. 8.36 cr rupees.
The Administrator also laid the foundation stone of extension of Govt. Middle School in rehabilitation colony, Palsora, Sector-56, Chandigarh. This block of building will have 17 rooms in 3 floors. The building will cover 29380 sq. ft. of area and it will cost around Rs. 5.57 cr. This work of construction will be completed in 12 months.
