To stop abuse of power by government to suppress youth, spread religious campaign, to get NSA revoked, release of Bandi Singhs and taking Punjab’s issue at International level, Bhai Amritpal Singh will contest as independent candidate. This was confirmed by his mother Balwinder Kaur.
She announced this decision at Pakka morcha going on at Saragarhi. She said that as per wishes of people, Panchayats and from messages received from all over Punjab, time demands that as government was trying to suppress voice of youth and put them in Jails thousands of miles away from Punjab at Dibrugarh, where for a single meeting we have to work hard, no one is allowed to carry out religious awakening marches, now Amritpal Singh should contest as Independent candidate from Khadoor Sahib. She said that agencies do not want Amritpal Singh to contest because they are wary that stories of their oppression and injustice will reach other countries. She said that this is also a truth that he did not wanted to contest elections but now he has realized that it was essential to contest election
