Chandigarh, August 26

All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has extended their support to the Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) decision to go on protest leave on September 9 in support of their demands.

“The Jammu and Kashmir administration has been non-serious about the Issues being faced by the power employees and engineers. The recruitment has been put on hold for the last 7 years and Transmission Corporation has been headless for almost one year now. A mass protest leave has been planned for September 9, where all engineers from Jammu and Srinagar will participate,” stated AIPEF.

AIPEF has demanded the administration to resolve the genuine issues of J & K employees and engineers, said V K Gupta Spokesperson.

A meeting of its apex body of Guidance Council under the chairmanship of Sachin Tickoo president of JKEEGA and Peerzada Hidayatullah, the general secretary was held at Jammu and Srinagar, and deliberated the inordinate delay in filling up the vacant positions denting the morale of the engineering fraternity.

Tickoo said that currently there are two posts of Managing Director, three posts of Executive Director, five Chief Engineers, 14 Superintending Engineers, 61 Executive Engineers, 132 Assistant Ex- Engineers, 164 Assistant Engineers, and around 350 Junior Engineers which are vacant leading to a situation where every other person is having minimum two or three charges in the corporations of PDD. This clearly affects the quality of work.

Hidayatullah said that they have been continuously following the resolution of HR issues and time and again we were assured of the resolution of all issues but to no avail. The significant issues of regularization, timely promotions against vacant posts, and recruitment at the Junior Engineer level have been lingering for quite a long time now.

“The fact is that the entire engineer presently working in different Power Corporations has not been granted a single regular promotion.

The Guidance Council of both Jammu & Kashmir regions have resolved that all the graduate engineers of J&K Power Development Department shall submit one-day protest leave to the government for Sept 9, 2023, to register one-day peaceful protest against the non-seriousness of the government towards their legitimate demands,” said V K Gupta, Spokesperson AIPEF.
