The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab got a major boost in Patiala ahead of Lok Sabha elections. The AAP gave a big jolt to Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) on Thursday, when their national vice-president Surjit Singh Ablowal joined the Aam Aadmi Party in presence of CM Bhagwant Mann, MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli and cabinet minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra.

AAP Punjab President CM Bhagwant Mann welcomed Surjit Singh Ablowal to the AAP family. Surjit Ablowal came from student politics, he was Vice President of Punjab Student Union in 1980, Distt. President of Sikh Student Federation in 1986, National Vice President of Youth Akali Dal in 1997, National General Secretary and National Sr. Vice President of Youth Akali Dal, Working Committee Member (2 times) in Shiromani Akali Dal, National Organizing Secretary in Shiromani Akali Dal, Chairman of Punjab State Seed Corporation during the tenure Shiromani Akali Dal Govt. (2007-2012) and Chairman of Punjab Tourism Development Corporation during the tenure of Shiromani Akali Dal Govt. 2012-2017. Ablowal leaving Akali Dal Badal is definitely a big loss for the party and his arrival in AAP will strengthen Dr Balbir’s position in Patiala.

Along with him Jaspal Singh Kalyan (SAD – District President of Patiala Rural’s SC wing) and two ex-councillors of Patiala Kamaljeet Singh (SAD) and Ravinder Pal Singh a.k.a Johny Kohli (SAD vice-president) also joined the AAP. Apart from them Baldev Singh Bathoi (Chairman Block Samiti Sanour), Advocate Manbir Singh Virk and Shivraj Singh Virk (National Senior vice-president Youth Akali Dal) also left Akali Dal to join the AAP.

In his statement after inducting all the leaders into the party, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that impressed by the work of the AAP government in the last two years, people from every section of Punjab are continuously joining the Aam Aadmi Party and are contributing to make Punjab Rangla again. About Akali Dal, he said that there is an atmosphere of uncertainty and insecurity in the Akali leadership from top to bottom. Mann said that the people of Punjab or the Akali Dal workers do not have any trust in SAD-Badal. When there is uncertainty and distrust among the people of any party, they cannot win. Now the people of Punjab do not have faith in the Akali Dal, they are finished. But now the people only look towards the AAP and the party will create history by winning Lok Sabha elections in Punjab by 13-0.
