The Aadhar Card helped in busting the fake marriage gang in Ferozepur, that was engaged in duping youths looking for their prospective life partners and out of seven persons booked, 4 have been nabbed, for fraud and forgery under Sections 420, 465, 468 470, 471 and 120B IPC.
Darshna Devi of village Jhuge Ali of Haryana lodged a complaint with the police that she was looking for a girl for his son Ravi Kumar and her son-in-law Tilak Raj informed that there is a girl in Ferozepur and we can fix it up. I got a call from Om Parkash and the bonding was agreed and told to come to Ferozepur in Punjab along with relatives and meet Tara Arora at the Mandir near the bus stand. On reaching there, the ‘pujari’ at Mandir informed on seeing the ID proof – Aadhar Card – of the girl that there had been marriage of the same name ID proof yesterday. On suspecting something foul, they found that they had been cheated. Four members reported to have been arrested by the police.
Meet Arora alias Gurmit Singh is reported to be the brother of girl Tara Arora. On being exposed, two fled away from the scene making an excuse to college the original Aadhar Card. It is also said that Tara Arora is in fact a Rosy dancer at Jalandhar. Her fake brother Meet Arora’s original name is Gurmit Singh and lives in Feroepur. Before marriage, Om Parkash had also taken Rs.25,000 as an advance and there was an equal partnership in the dowry to be given later on.
Tara Arora alias Rosy of Jalandhar, Meet Arora alias Gurmit Singh of Khilchi village in Feroepur, middle man Om Parkash of Bhiwani Haryana, Veena Sharma of Ambala have been nabbed by the police whereas Neha of Ambala and Jaswinder Singh Gill and Deep of Ferozepur are reported to be absconding.
Girls from this gang used to get married to innocent persons and then flee with valuables belonging to these families after the wedding, said police. However, further investigations are on with Sukhdev Raj IO.
