77th I-Day: Deputy Commissioner urges youth to play a pivotal role in country’s holistic development

Deputy Commissioner Captain Karnail Singh on Tuesday hoisted national flag on 77th Independence Day and took salute at impressive March past from the contingents of Punjab police and NCC cadets .

DC urged the youths to play a pivotal role in the development of the nation thus making India a frontrunner country in all sectors.

During district level Independence Day function at local Guru Nanak Stadium, Deputy Commissioner also inspected the parade and took salute from the march past comprising different contingents. He also recalled unprecedented contribution and sacrifices made by our great martyrs to get the India free from shackles of British imperialism.

Captain Karnail Singh called upon the youngsters that they should come forward to wipe out social menaces besides contributing in country’s further growth and development to realize the dreams of great martyrs. He also pointed out that Punjab had made maximum sacrifices during independence movement and

Punjab always stood at front to save country from internal as well as external aggressions. In his Independence Day address the Deputy Commissioner said the District Administration was committed to deliver public services in a fully transparent manner besides ensuring the benefit of welfare schemes at the grassroots level.

The Deputy Commissioner said that 20 Aam Aadmi Clinics had become operational including three opened at Phagwara a few days back. He said that the School of Eminence had also been established in the district, which would enable the students to pursue higher education to achieve their goals.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner inspected the parade along with SSP Rajpal Singh Sandhu and Parade Commander DSP Khushpreet Singh followed by march past of contingents of Punjab Police both men & women, Punjab Homeguards, cadets of NCC’s 21 Battalion, Students of School of Eminence, band of Punjab police, Indian Army & MGN School, cadets from MDSD & MGN schools, Government Senior Secondary School, Balerkhanpur & Natthuchahal.

Meanwhile the students of Government Senior Secondary School, Preeta Lee Lesson School, Government Senior Secondary School, Bhawanipur also made different religious & patriotic presentations. Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Improvement Trust Chairman Gurpal Singh Indian, AAP leader Manju Rana and officials from civil and police administration.

49 persons honoured for remarkable works in different fields: Deputy Commissioner also gave away appreciation certificate and mementoes to 49 persons for their remarkable work in respective fields including social services, education, sports, rescue & rehabilitation works during recent floods. The recipients of appreciation included 20 member team of SDRF, teachers, coaches and players promoting sports, farmers and social workers. The parade commander and platoon commanders were also honoured on this occasion.
