Poll rigging in Anantnag & Rajouri: Mehbooba Mufti

The Fact News Service

New Delhi, May 25

On Saturday, May 25, Mehbooba Mufti, a member of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party, claimed that poll workers and party employees were being held in police stations “without any reason.” Mehbooba Mufti further asserted that she was receiving reports about attempts to “tamper the EVMs.”

Mehbooba Mufti, along with party leaders and members, is sitting on a protest. She is a candidate running for the Lok Sabha constituency of Anantnag–Rajouri in South Kashmir, where voting is now taking place.

The PDP president further stated that she has received no explanation for the suspension of outgoing calls from her mobile number.
“Since this morning, I have been unable to make any calls. Mehbooba Mufti said, “There is no explanation for this abrupt suspension of services on the day of polling in the Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency.”

The PDP brought up the matter in a post on X as well.

“Ms. Mehbooba Mufti’s @MehboobaMufti cell phone service has been unexpectedly terminated just before the polls. Numerous PDP employees and poll workers were held throughout the voting district yesterday evening and early this morning, according to a statement from the PDP.

Mehbooba Mufti claimed in a letter to the Election Commission on Friday that PDP workers and poll workers had been arrested by the police.

“A large number of our PDP poll workers and agents are being arrested right before the election. The families were informed that SSP Anantnag & DIG South Kashmir are behind it when they went to the police stations. The PDP leader had written on X, “We’ve written to @ECISVEEP hoping for their timely intervention.”

The Anantnag Police has said that these detentions are restricted only to those with a known past, based on inputs of threats to law and order on the day of polling.
