Yudh Nashian Virudh: Commissionerate Police Jalandhar busts major drug racket, 2 accused arrested & 13 kg heroin, illegal weapons, luxury vehicles seized

Achieving a significant breakthrough under the Punjab government’s anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh”, Commissionerate Police Jalandhar, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, has busted a major drug smuggling network. Two accused have been arrested with a total recovery of 13 kg heroin, 2 illegal .32 bore weapons, 6 live cartridges, 3 magazines, 3 luxury cars, and Rs 22,000 drug money.

Giving details of this operation, CP Jalandhar Dhanpreet Kaur said that during a press briefing on 21.05.2025, she had informed that CIA team had arrested an accused on 20 May 2025 from near Pulli Focal Point, Jalandhar. The accused, identified as Shivam Sodhi alias Shiva s/o Varinder Sodhi, resident of Near Lamma Pind Chowk Simran Enclave, recovered 5 kg heroin and Rs. 22,000 Drug Money. An FIR No. 122 dated 20.05.2025 under Sections 21C-27A-61-85 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Division No. 8, Jalandhar.

After continuous interrogation during police remand, 7 kg heroin and two vehicles were recovered from Shivam. He also revealed the involvement of an accomplice, who led to the arrest of Barinder Singh alias Babbu, son of Davinder Singh, resident of Amar Nagar, Jalandhar. Barinder was arrested on May 22, 2025, and the police recovered 1 kg heroin, 2 illegal .32 bore weapons, 6 live cartridges, and 3 magazines from his possession.

The police confirmed that Shivam Sodhi has three previous cases registered against him, while Barinder Singh has four cases registered.

CP Jalandhar stressed on the Jalandhar Police’s zero-tolerance stance towards drug trafficking and criminal activities. “There is no place for criminals in Jalandhar. Anyone involved in any kind of criminal activity will have to face strict consequences,” she asserted.

Investigations into the background and links of the accused are ongoing, and those associated with them will not be spared.

This action is another milestone in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and organized crime in the region.
