Dr. B. R. Ambedkar State Institution of Medical Sciences, S.A.S. Nagar, held a “White Coat Ceremony” for its fourth batch of MBBS students. Guest of Honor Dr. A. K. Attri (Director Principal, GMCH-32, Chandigarh), Chief Patron Dr. Bhagwant Singh (Chairman, AIMS, Mohali) and Mr Rahul Gupta, Additional Director, AIMS, Mohali and Additional Secretary Medical Education and Research Punjab graced the occasion.
Today being Children’s Day, renowned Paediatrician Dr. Raj Kumar Gupta also attended, announcing the ‘Dr R K Gupta Best Graduate Gold Medal Award’ for the MBBS student who excelled in Paediatrics during the academic course by contributing Rs 3 lakh endowment fund. Additionally, students who excel in the field of pathology will be given the ‘Datta-Uppal Pathology Award’, a scholarship presented by Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, Director Principal, AIMS, Mohali, in honour of Sardar Avatar Singh Uppal and his beloved mentor, Dr. B. N. Datta, retd Prof & Head, Pathology, PGIMER, Chandigarh by contributing 3 lakhs . Rajinder Kaur Dhindsa, the founder of Prabh Aasra, received recognition for her unselfish commitment to helping the underprivileged and the community. C. M. Sharma received felicitated for donating his mother’s dead remains to the Department of Anatomy.
For their unwaveringly supportive relationship with their mentees, Dr. Anupam Mahajan (Prof & Head, Orthopaedic), Dr. Sobal Nigah (Assistant Professor, Anatomy), and Dr. Karan Jindal (Assistant Professor, Orthopaedic) were given the Exceptional Mentor awards. Student mentors (2021 MBBS Batch 2021) shared the words of inspiration and encouragement with newly enrolled student mentees to boost their morale for Medicine, Mankind and Motherland.
