Stern efforts are being made to save Punjab’s water and youth. The state government has chalked out a complete plan under the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, the meaningful results of which will be revealed soon.
These words were expressed by Punjab’s School Education, Higher Education, Technical Education and Public Relations Minister Harjot Singh Bains while addressing as the chief guest at the district level function of the committees ‘Pindan de Pehredar’ formed under the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign being run by the Punjab government to eradicate drugs at Morinda in Rupnagar district.
On this occasion, he said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab police is working to break the supply chain of drugs, the health department is working to bring the youth into the mainstream by providing full facilities in the Nasha Mukti Kendra and rehabilitation centers.
He said that awareness is being spread by forming Village Defense Committees in villages and Ward Defense Committees in cities. Yoga, meditation, Sports activities are being carried out and skill development program being run such centres in such centres. He said that support groups are also being formed in the villages which will help drug addicts to get rid of addiction.
Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the cooperation of the people is necessary to defeat the forces destroying the youth of Punjab. Appealing to the ‘Pinda de Pehredar’ present, he said that they are the first line of defense of the government.
He said that now our goal is that this campaign against drugs should reach every household. Accusing the previous governments of pushing the youth of Punjab towards drugs, he said that the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is fully committed to eradicating this stain.
He said that the Chief Minister has given full powers to the Punjab Police and instructed that those involved in drug dealing should not be spared under any circumstances.
Cabinet Minister Bains criticized the policies of the central government on the issue of water and said that the prosperity of Punjab depends on agriculture, and the basis of agriculture is water. But the policies of the central government are pointing to a deep conspiracy to grab Punjab’s water. Due to these policies, the farmers of Punjab are already facing unbearable problems, and now the rights of Punjab are being openly looted.
He stressed that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, it has been ensured that not only drinking water but also water for agriculture is being supplied to every village of Punjab through canals. He clarified that the government will take every necessary action to ensure the safety and conservation of Punjab’s water resources.
Referring to the apathy of the previous governments in the education sector, he said that thousands of schools did not even have toilets and boundary walls, which is now being constructed. He said that through the Punjab Sikhiya Kranti, government schools have been made progressive by providing all modern facilities.
On this occasion, MLA from Chabbewal constituency Dr. Ishank Kumar said that the government is making full efforts to connect the youth with sports. Sports nurseries are being set up in every district so that all the youth can be kept away from drugs.
Dr. Charanjit Singh said that under the campaign, the Punjab government is fighting a decisive war and drug traffickers will not be spared under any circumstances. He said that we all have to work together for the prosperity of Punjab.
On the issue of water, he said that the Central Government has always ignored the interests of Punjab, while Punjab has played a progressive role in the security and development of the country. He also praised Cabinet Minister Harjot Bains for his exceptional work in the education sector.
MLA Mr. Dinesh Chadha said that the government is leaving no stone unturned for the welfare of the people. He said that large-scale action is being taken to eradicate drugs in the state and today it is the moral responsibility of all of us to convey this message to every village.
