In a heartfelt initiative to spread awareness about the importance of organ donation, Aykai Academic Research Trust, Ludhiana, organized a walkathon on May 11, 2025 in the playground of Jandiali Kalan . The event witnessed enthusiastic participation by 400 individuals from nearby villages and towns, including people of all age groups, united in support of this noble cause.
Dr. Baldev Singh Aulakh, Chief Urologist & Transplant Surgeon at Aykai Hospital , and Chairman of Aykai Academic Research Trust, led the campaign and inspired participants to take a step forward towards pledging organ donation. In his address, Dr. Aulakh emphasized, “One brain-dead individual can save up to eight lives. Every year, countless people lose their lives due to the unavailability of organs. It’s time we act with compassion and responsibility and by becoming organ donors .”
He also stressed the importance of awareness in saving lives, stating, “Awareness is the key. When people are informed, they can volunteer to be organ donors thereby helping needy to get organ saving precious lives.”
The walkathon was coordinated by local leaders and volunteers, including Dr Navpreet Director Aykai Hospital, sarpanch Gagandeep Singh Gill, Raman gill, Sunil Kumar, Davinder Singh, journalist Sandeep, Dr Ankur, Dr Amit Tuli, Dr Jatin, Dr Suhasini and Kamalpreet Singh. Their combined efforts made the event a resounding success.
