Vigilance Bureau registers corruption cases against private person demanding bribe on behalf of ANTF

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its drive against corruption in the state, have registered a corruption case against Beenu Verma, a resident of Dhuri town in Sangrur district.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the state VB said this case has been registered against the accused based on a complaint filed by Amandeep alias Kaalu, a resident of Village Rohti, in Patiala district on the Chief Minister’s anti corruption action line.

He further informed that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that an official of Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Patiala were trying to implicate him in a false case. Meanwhile, one private person namely Beenu Verma approached the complainant for helping him in this regard as he was knowing the ANTF officials and demanded a bribe money of Rs. 7 lakhs but the deal was struck at 5 lakhs. The complainant had recorded the conversation between Beenu Verma and himself and handed over to the VB as an evidence.

He further added that during the verification of this complaint the allegations levelled in the complaint were found to be true and the a FIR has been registered against the aforementioned person. The said accused is evading his arrest and role of ANTF officials would be verified during further investigation, he said.
