During the campaign against corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau today demanded a bribe of Rs. 3,500 and has been arrested under the charge of taking.
Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the above goods patwari and his assistant have been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Telu Ram, a resident of Chandra Nagar, Ludhiana.
He further said that the complainant has approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the patwari and his servant demanded a bribe of Rs 3500 from him in exchange for releasing the 30-year deposit record of his plot to get a loan from the bank.
The complainant further alleged that during the meeting, the Patwari asked him to meet his relative Amandeep Singh alias Deep in this regard, who demanded Rs.3500 as bribe from the complainant. Out of which the Karinde of the Patwari demanded to take 500 rupees for himself and give the remaining 3000 rupees to the Patwari.
The complainant recorded the said conversation and submitted it to the Vigilance Bureau as evidence.
The spokesperson said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and arrested the alleged accused Amandeep Singh alias Deep from the parking lot of the Patwarkhana red-handed by taking a bribe of Rs 3500 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses. Along with this, Patwari Sukhwinder Singh Sodhi has also been arrested from his office.
The spokesperson said that both the accused will be produced in the court tomorrow. He further said that further investigation of this matter is going on.
