Ludhiana, June 12

Rajya Sabha MP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for the Ludhiana (West) Assembly by-election, Sanjeev Arora, addressed a poll meeting at Feroze Gandhi Market on Wednesday evening, extending greetings on the occasion of Kabir Jayanti.

Praising the market as a significant landmark of the city, Arora recalled its inception as a modern commercial hub. “Though many malls have come up over the years, the relevance and importance of Feroze Gandhi Market remains intact,” he said. Arora also mentioned his past visit to the Ludhiana Stock Exchange located in the market, where certain issues were brought to his attention and have since been resolved. He highlighted that several civic amenities in the market have been upgraded following public demand.

Presenting his three-year performance report, Arora vowed to work four times harder if elected in the upcoming bypoll. He urged voters to come out in large numbers and support him to ensure “fourfold development” of the constituency.

MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi, who also spoke on the occasion, lauded Arora’s developmental efforts. “In my 40 years of political life, I have never seen this level of development by any MP or Rajya Sabha member,” he said. Challenging rival parties, Pappi stated, “If any opposition MP has done more work than Arora, I will quit politics.”

As an example, he cited the transformation of the local civil hospital — a long-neglected institution — which, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and due to Arora’s efforts, has now received a complete facelift. He added that there are numerous such examples of development spearheaded by Arora.

Pappi appealed to the public with folded hands to support Arora. He also reminded them of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s recent appeal to elect a future cabinet minister, not just an MLA.

Among those present were Councillor Kapil Kumar Sonu, Navjot Garg, Harjot Sandhu, Vicky Chopra, Gurpreet Sidhu, Jatin Manan, Monu Tiger, Billu Pardhan, Amandeep Singh, and Ashwin Nagpal.
