Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman who assumed charge of the Finance Ministry has convened a meeting with senior officials on Wednesday. She instructed them to commence preparations for the Union Budget 2024-2025.
According to reports, Sitharaman urged officials to kickstart the budgetary process, stressing the importance of thorough planning and comprehensive analysis. This proactive approach aims to craft a well-structured budget that effectively addresses the nation’s economic priorities and challenges.
The collaborative efforts of the ministry’s team are anticipated to contribute to a resilient and strategic financial blueprint for the upcoming fiscal year. Reports suggest that the Union Budget is expected to be presented in Parliament by the third week of July.
Furthermore, a meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, presided over by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, is slated to convene on June 22 in the national capital.
This Council meeting marks the first such meet since its last session in October 2023.
On Thursday, the official handle of the GST Council, known as ‘X’, announced, “The 53rd meeting of the GST Council will be held on 22nd June, 2024, at New Delhi.”
