Under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, 405 beneficiaries Malerkotla registered

 Malerkotla district has a target of covering 1635 beneficiaries for the financial year 2025-26

The amount is provided in two installments to improve the health of pregnant women and lactating mothers

Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, financial assistance of Rs. 14 lakh 46 thousand has been provided to 405 pregnant women and lactating mothers of Malerkotla district so that they can get a balanced diet and improve their health and nutritional status. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Viraj S. Tirke. He said that this scheme has been launched by the Social Security Women and Child Development Department to provide financial assistance to pregnant women and lactating mothers belonging to socially and economically backward classes.

The Deputy Commissioner said that it is our primary duty to ensure that the benefits of the government’s welfare schemes and schemes reach every needy beneficiary. To strengthen the health of pregnant women and lactating mothers, financial assistance is provided to women under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. He said that this scheme of women and child development has been started to improve the health and meet the nutritional needs of pregnant women and lactating mothers.

District Program Officer Malerkotlan said that under this scheme, maternity benefit is provided to a woman for the first two living children, provided that the second child is a girl. A financial amount of five thousand rupees is provided in two installments for the first child. He said that to prevent female foeticide and improve the sex ratio, a financial benefit of Rs. 6000 thousand is given in a lump sum installment if the second child is a girl.

He said that Rs. 5 thousand is provided in the account of the beneficiaries in two installments. He said that the first installment of Rs. 3 thousand is received after the woman gets pregnant and registers at the nearest Anganwadi center, while the second installment of Rs. 2 thousand is provided after the birth of the child and after the primary vaccination by the health department.

He said that the benefit of this scheme is not given to government employees or taxpayers. He also said that to avail the benefit under this scheme, the concerned beneficiary must get himself registered at the nearest Anganwadi center and in the same Anganwadi center, their registration will be done through FRS and Aadhaar verification system. He appealed to all the district residents to contact their nearest Anganwadi Center or Child Development Project Officer, Malerkotla and Ahmedgarh offices to avail the benefits of this scheme.
