People will be made aware about the ill effects of drugs through cultural programmes: Manohar Lal

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that under the Drug-free Haryana Campaign, people will be made aware about the ill effects of drugs through cultural programmes, bhajans and plays so as to make Haryana a drug-free State. A special publicity campaign will be launched by the Information, Public Relations, Languages and Culture Department at a grand scale for this purpose, he added.

The Chief Minister was addressing at the “Lok Rang Saanjh Programme” organized under the Drug-free Haryana Campaign on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking in Panchkula near here. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also released the booklet of the publicity campaign to be run by the Information, Public Relations, Languages and Culture Department.

The Chief Minister said that under the Drug-free Haryana Campaign, people would be motivated to give up the habit of drugs through folk songs, raginis and plays. He said that in the special publicity campaign to be run by the Information, Public Relations, Languages and Culture Department, programmes would be organized regularly by bhajan and drama groups at public places in villages and schools and colleges.

Manohar Lal said that due to the habit of drugs, a person not only gets ruined by money and wisdom but his mental and physical wellbeing is also adversely affected. Therefore, it has become necessary to run a drug de-addiction campaign so that this social evil could be eradicated from the State, said the Chief Minister.

He said that assistance of various social and religious organizations would be taken in this publicity campaign. Apart from this, the drive would be taken right upto village, school and college level and participation of each and every citizen of the State would be ensured in the drug-free Haryana Campaign.
