The Haryana Government has announced that August 13, 2023 will be observed as a public holiday in all government offices, educational institutions, and other institutes falling within the jurisdiction of Gram Panchayat Ajampur, Block-Naraingarh, Distt. Ambala, Gram Panchayat Chabri, Block-Jind, Gram Panchayat Bhartana, Block-Pillukhera, Gram Panchayat Rojkhera, Block-Uchana, Distt. Jind, and Gram Panchayat Juan-1, Block-Sonipat, Distt. Sonipat. The holiday aims to allow employees of these institutions to cast their votes in the upcoming Gram Panchayat Elections.
Furthermore, the circular issued by the Chief Secretary has also notified that August 13, 2023, will be observed as a paid holiday under section 135B of the Representation of People Act, 1951, applicable under Section 173A of the Haryana Panchayati Raj Act, 1994, and under section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881, for all factories, commercial establishments, industrial undertakings, trade shops, banks, etc., falling within the areas where the polls will be held on the specified date. This decision aims to enable workers of these establishments, located within the jurisdiction of the mentioned Panchayati Raj Institutions, to exercise their voting rights.
