Unanimously elected Panchayats to get special grant of Rs 5 lakh- Rural Development and Panchayats Minister

Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond announced that the Punjab government will provide a special grant of Rs 5 lakh to unanimously elected Panchayats. He made this announcement while addressing the newly elected Panchayats of Khanna sub-division at the office of Aam Aadmi Party.

Sond emphasized that with the peaceful completion of the elections, the speed of development works will accelerate now. He stated that the Punjab Government, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to putting the state on a high growth trajectory. He added that significant efforts are already underway to ensure that Punjab becomes a leading state in every aspect. He stressed that the strenuous efforts of the state government will only bear fruit if the newly elected Sarpanchs and Panchs contribute generously.

Sond also highlighted that the newly elected sarpanchs and panchs have received a mandate from the people in favour of the prosperity and progress of the villages. He assured full support and cooperation to the newly elected Panchayats for the comprehensive development of the villages.

The Minister mentioned that the state government has already initiated a campaign against drug abuse to make the state drug-free by taking strict action against drug peddlers and now the Panchayats have to ensure their villages remain free of the menace.

Furthermore, he mentioned that a major initiative has been launched to promote sports through “Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan” to channel the boundless energy of the youth in a positive direction.
