Chandigarh, June 6

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday said that the Sikhiya Kranti initiative, launched by his government to revitalize the education sector, is once again enabling the state to produce achievers on a daily basis.

Addressing a gathering while felicitating 44 students from government schools who cleared the prestigious JEE Advanced examination, the Chief Minister said that the students of Punjab possess an indomitable spirit to succeed. He added that the Sikhiya Kranti has provided them with the necessary support to excel in various fields. “These students are now scripting new success stories every day and bringing laurels to the state,” Bhagwant Singh Mann said.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the primary aim of Sikhiya Kranti is to make Punjab a frontrunner in the field of education. He expressed immense pride and satisfaction that the initiative is yielding outstanding results, with students proving their mettle across domains. Bhagwant Singh Mann assured that Punjab will continue to introduce educational reforms to further empower the youth.

The Chief Minister further stated that due to the relentless efforts of the state government, Punjab is on its way to becoming a technological hub. He said that The day is not far when high-end technology companies will queue up to recruit Punjab’s youth. This transformation, Bhagwant Singh Mann added, will help position Punjab as a center for innovation, technological advancement, and economic growth.

Praising the students’ determination, the Chief Minister noted that many of them have overcome significant hardships to achieve success. He cited the example of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who also cleared the same exam through sheer hard work, as an inspiration for the younger generation. Bhagwant Singh Mann also highlighted ongoing efforts to develop Punjab into a hub for medical education.

The Chief Minister said that new medical colleges and hospitals are being established to benefit the people and to provide quality education to aspiring medical students. In addition, he  announced that eight UPSC coaching centers are being set up across Punjab to train students for competitive examinations. Each center will be equipped with a library, hostel facilities, and other essential amenities to provide quality coaching, added Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The Chief Minister stressed that these centers will help prepare Punjab’s youth to excel in national-level exams. Encouraging students to remain grounded, Bhagwant Singh Mann urged them to be “grass-rooters” rather than “parachuters”—explaining that those who rise from the ground are better prepared to conquer challenges and reach great heights. “Parachuters come from the sky but eventually fall to the ground. Grass-rooters, on the other hand, rise from the ground and can touch the sky,” he said.

The Chief Minister compared the role of the government to that of an airport runway, which facilitates a smooth takeoff for airplanes. “In the same way, the state government is working to help our youth realize their dreams,” he asserted. Bhagwant Singh Mann added that every effort is being made to give wings to the ambitions of young minds and that no stone is being left unturned in this mission.

The Chief Minister also urged the youth to remain humble despite their achievements. “Stay confident and positive, but never arrogant. Humility and hard work are the keys to sustained success,” he advised.

Earlier, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries, and congratulated the students who cleared the exam despite facing significant challenges. He also noted that earlier, 260 students from government schools had cleared the JEE Mains exam—highlighting the consistent results of the government’s educational initiatives.
