Chandigarh, March 12
Former Health Minister of Punjab and Congress leader Balbir Singh Sidhu strongly criticized the BJP-led central government for misusing agencies like ED, CBI, and the IT department to target opposition leaders. Slamming the Narendra Modi government, he said, “The ED raids at the residence of former Chhattisgarh CM and AICC in-charge of Punjab Congress Bhupesh Baghel Ji clearly showcase BJP’s dictatorial approach. But Bhupesh Baghel Ji has been a strong Congress leader who has fought such battles before. The Congress party and the people of Chhattisgarh stand firmly with him.”

Lashing out at the central government’s “dictatorial behavior,” he said, “The entire country knows that BJP can never gain a foothold in Punjab. That’s why they are using every trick to stop Congress and tarnish the image of our leaders.”

Focusing on the ED raids, he added, “The multiple raids on Bhupesh Baghel right after his visit to Punjab expose BJP’s desperation to tarnish the goodwill of Punjab’s leaders.” He further stated, “BJP should understand that they cannot stop Congress from serving the nation.”

Criticizing the central government, he remarked, “Instead of addressing major issues like the falling rupee, unemployment, and inflation, BJP is focused on humiliating opposition leaders.”

Sidhu further stated, “The ED raid at Bhupesh Baghel’s residence was just a pre-planned strategy to shift headlines and divert public attention from crucial issues like tariffs, the declining economy, and voter list fraud.”

He concluded, “We stand with our party and our leaders, and we are confident that BJP cannot muzzle the voice of Congress party or any of our leaders.”
