The Punjab Government will hold a special camp on December 23 in Tarn Taran to remove errors in the Unique Disability ID (UDID) card. This announcement was made by Dr. Baljit Kaur Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development.
Divulging in this regard, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that despite the certificates of the divyang Persons 100 percent disabled, their disability was underreported in the UDID card, due to which they are not getting the benefits of various schemes. Dr. Baljit Kaur said that Unique Disability Identity Card (UDID) is generated to provide the benefits of all the schemes and services of the Central and Punjab Government to the disabled on the basis of a single card.
The Minister said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to the welfare of the Divyang Persons. She said that special camps will be organized in every district of Punjab to remove the errors in the UDID card.
Notably, that during a recent annual event of the Punjab Divyang Action Committee held in Tarn Taran, a demand was made for corrections in UDID cards, which the minister has promptly acted upon.
The Cabinet Minister also directed the District Social Security Officers to organize special camps at the district level in coordination with the Civil Surgeon of their district so that the Divyang Persons can avail the benefits of government schemes.
She appealed to the Divyang Persons to take maximum advantage of this opportunity by attending these camps. Those Divyang Persons whose UDID cards have not been updated can get their UDID Cards corrected by bringing their Divyang certificate along with their Aadhaar card. government’s initiative for differently-abled individuals in Punjab.
