Jalandhar, July 18
An event was held at PIMS, Jalandhar, to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and to support the Punjab Government’s ongoing anti-drug campaign, Yudh Nashiyan Virudh (War Against Drugs). The program was graced by the Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, Smt. Dhanpreet Kaur, IPS, along with other senior police officials. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr. Rajiv Arora, Director Principal; Dr. Kanwaljeet Singh, Executive Chairperson; Dr. H.K. Cheema, Dean Academics, along with heads of various departments.
A large number of medical and nursing students participated in the event. Students of DAV College of Nursing presented a thought-provoking role-play highlighting the ill effects of drug abuse. The winners of the poster-making and reel-making competitions were felicitated by CP Jalandhar for their creative contributions to the Yudh Nashian Virudh awareness campaign.
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner of Police, Smt. Dhanpreet Kaur emphasized the comprehensive steps being taken by the Punjab Government and the Police Department to combat drug abuse across the state. She urged mental health professionals, medical faculty, and especially students to actively participate in spreading awareness and supporting the de-addiction mission. She called upon the youth to act as ambassadors of this change and raise their voices against the drug menace.
