SGPC’s executive committee takes key decisions

The executive committee (EC) of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly condemned the killing of three Punjab youths in Uttar Pradesh in an encounter and has demanded a judicial inquiry into the entire matter.

During this meeting led by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, a resolution was passed regarding the police encounter in UP and strong questions were raised on it.

The resolution said that this is a very serious matter and it seems like a deliberate act to target youths of Punjab. Today’s EC meeting strongly demands a judicial inquiry into this encounter.

The EC has also rejected its resolution of an earlier meeting of December 9, in which a demand was made to Sri Akal Takht Sahib to excommunicate Narain Singh Chaura from the Panth.

Today’s EC also passed a resolution to extend the term of the investigation panel formed in the matter of Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh in the EC meeting dated December 19, by one month in view of the elections of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.

This resolution has also expressed the commitment that the investigation into the matter related to Giani Harpreet Singh matter will be completely impartial.

In the EC meeting, a condolence resolution was also passed on the demise of former Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh and tributes were paid to him by reciting the Moolmantar and Gurmantar.

Present in the EC meeting included, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, senior vice president Raghujit Singh Virk, junior vice president Baldev Singh Kalyan, general secretary Sher Singh Mandwala, EC members Bibi Harjinder Kaur, Amrik Singh Vichhoa, Surjit Singh Tugalwal, Paramjit Singh Khalsa, Surjit Singh Garhi, Baldev Singh Qaimpur, Daljit Singh Bhinder, Sukhharpreet Singh Rode, Ravinder Singh Khalsa, Jaswant Singh Purain and Paramjit Singh Raipur, chief secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan, OSD Satbir Singh Dhami, secretary Partap Singh, additional secretary Sukhminder Singh, Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, personal secretary Shahbaz Singh, assistant secretary Gurnam Singh, Balwinder Singh Khairabad, Harbhajan Singh Vakta, legal advisor Amanbir Singh Siali, and executive engineer Jatinderpal Singh.
