The Annual Function of Sainik School Kapurthala concluded today with colourful cultural programmes. Deputy Commissioner Captain Karnail Singh was the Chief Guest of the function.
Lieutenant General (retd) Gurdeep Singh was the Guest of Honour. After lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour in the School auditorium, the Cadets recited Shabad and enacted an English play as a part of the cultural programmes.
School Principal Group Captain Madhu Sengar gave a presentation giving the account of the academic achievements of the session .She discussed in detail the School’s board result, NDA admission target, discipline, daily routine and achievements of the famous band team. Before this, on the arrival of the Chief Guest, Principal Group Captain Madhu Sengar warmly welcomed him.
Thereafter, the Chief Guest honoured the students of the senior classes, who had stood first in various fields in the session 2022-23, by giving them certificates, mementos and trophies. Addressing the parents and the cadets present, he said that it was always a pleasure to be a part of by being there in the prestigious Sainik School though as a guest.He lauded the participants of various exhibitions, cultural programme and congratulated the prize winners. He impressed upon the cadets to keep working hard and maintaining the great school of the country. He said that the School has been providing yeoman service in sending cadets to NDA. He assured that the state government will look after the requirements of the School. He also assured that the district administration was always there for any kind of support needed by the School.
Earlier in the morning, the Guest of Honour visited the exhibition displayed by the science, art, photography and computer departments of the School. During this, he praised and thanked many cadets for their marvellous creation and presentation.
A Hindi group song and a scintillating group dance performance by Girl Cadets enthralled the audience. The Guest of Honour graced the occasion by felicitating the cadets of the junior category for their achievements.. On this occasion, the Guest of Honour General Singh urged the cadets to make use of the unique opportunities that they get in the School and can’t get in any other school. He complemented the band contingent and the performers of the cultural programme and congratulated the prize winners.He advised the girl cadets of the first batch to remember that they could make a record by being first from the School to join NDA and defence services. He admired the School Principal and Staff for putting up a wonderful show.
Sainik School Kapurthala is known for its discipline and daily routine. While Kashyap Krishnan was awarded as the best artist for the session 2022-23, Tilak House got the trophy for sending the maximum number of cadets to NDA. It is to mention that Sainik School Kapurthala has won the coveted ‘ Defence Minister’s Trophy’ for sending maximum number of boys to NDA among all the Sainik Schools during the previous session.
Apart from this, while Azad House got Best House (Cock House) trophy for ‘over all’ performance in the senior category, on the other hand, Motilal House got this title in the junior category.Among holding houses, this trophy was bagged by Nalwa House. The principal honoured Chief Guest and the guest of Honour by presenting a shawl and a beautiful photo of Jagatjit Palace.
In the end, Vice Principal of the school, Wing Commander Deepika Rawat, proposed the Vote of Thanks. On this occasion, Administrative Officer Major JBS Baig along with Dr Ishar were present in the auditorium.
