Events and tributes are being held in various cities, including a special concert at Community Center Sector 35 Chandigarh Desh Bhagat Radio (108.7 FM) and Tricity Senior Citizens Association, Chandigarh where artists perform Rafi’s most iconic songs, paying homage to his timeless contributions to music.
On this occasion Vimal Trikha, Rj Sangmitra, S.K Gupta, Deepak Rekhi, Prem Singla, Rakesh Jethi, Neelam Jethi and president of association Nirmal Nimmi paid tribute to Rafi and Lata through their songs. Beside others Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor and Dr Tajinder Kaur Pro-Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University also paid tribute to music maestro Mohamad Rafi.
In a statement RJ Sangmitra, Station Head of DB Radio, 107.8 FM, paid tribute to the music maestro. She said, “Mohamad Rafi’s music transcends time and continues to touch hearts. His melodies are not just songs but pieces of art that evoke deep emotions. Today, we remember him with immense respect and gratitude and we are thrilled to share his remarkable legacy with new generations of listeners.” Many Mohammad Rafi songs were also performed. RJ Sangmitra said that Mohd. Rafi’s singing is evergreen.
Born on December 24, 1924, Mohamad Rafi’s extraordinary career spanned over four decades, during which he lent his voice to thousands of songs across numerous languages. His unparalleled versatility, emotive singing and dedication to his craft established him as one of the greatest playback singers in Indian cinema.
