Punjabi Singer Kaka accuses Sky Digital directors of fraud, extortion in police complaint

Chandigarh, March 13

Renowned Punjabi singer and Kaka Ji Records Pvt. Ltd. director, Ravinder Singh—popularly known as Kaka—has filed a police complaint against Gurkaran Dhaliwal and Pinky Dhaliwal, directors of Sky Digital India Pvt. Ltd.

The complaint alleges multiple criminal offenses, including fraud, extortion, breach of trust, forgery, and violations under the Copyright Act and IT Act.

In his complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Mohali, Kaka claims that in 2021, the accused lured him into a contract with false promises of monetizing, distributing, and promoting his music across platforms like YouTube, Spotify, Gaana, and Wynk. Under this agreement, Kaka transferred exclusive access to his digital accounts. However, Sky Digital allegedly failed to meet their financial commitments, paying only ₹2.50 crores out of the agreed ₹6.30 crores.

Despite delivering 20 songs—exceeding the contractual requirement of 18—Kaka alleges that Sky Digital withheld revenue, falsified financial records, and misappropriated ₹1.40 crores. When he confronted them, he was allegedly threatened with physical harm.

Additionally, Kaka claims the accused unlawfully retained control of his YouTube channel and digital assets, demanding either four additional songs or ₹2 crores in exchange for returning access to his accounts. Despite issuing a formal termination notice on August 5, 2024, followed by a legal notice on February 28, 2025, Sky Digital allegedly continued their wrongful activities.

Kaka has urged authorities to take strict legal action against the accused and register an FIR for the alleged offenses.
