Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) & National Innovation Foundation (NIF) Join Forces to Foster Grassroots Innovation in Punjab

In a significant stride towards fostering innovation and self-reliance, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), Department of Science Technology & Environment, Govt of Punjab has partnered with the National Innovation Foundation (NIF), Department of Science & Technology- Govt. of India and launched Grassroots Innovators of Punjab (GRIP) Programme. The objective is to map and nurture the grassroots innovators of Punjab to achieve goal of Atam-Nirbharta (self-reliance).

Celebrating the spirit of self-reliance, PSCST and NIF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, have orchestrated a grand mass grassroots and rural connect programme, aptly named the “Innovation Yatra”. This exceptional journey will traverse various villages, schools, and colleges along meticulously planned routes, carrying with it a caravan of innovations and novel ideas to inspire and invigorate local communities. This Innovation Yatra is also aimed at sensitizing the Innovators from the State about GRIP 2.0 under which call for application is open.

Today, the Innovation Yatra reached its inspiring destination the Govt. Polytechnic College for Women in Ludhiana. During the event, Dr Navneet Kumar from the National Innovation Foundation shared insights into remarkable innovations emerging from the far corners of India, proving that innovation knows no boundaries.  Dr. Alkesh, Principal Scientific Officer, PSCST informed hat audience about the GRIP-Grassroots Innovators of Punjab Programme and urged them to spread the message among local population for their larger participation.

Er Manoj Kumar, Principal, of Government Polytechnic College thanks the PSCST & NIF for hosting the prestigious event in the campus and urged the audience to join the GRIP initiative by mobilizing the large number of innovations.

Gurwant Singh, a grassroots innovator felicitated last year, S Das, Director, MBCIE, Dr. Aseem Vashisht & Navdeep from PSCST, representatives from Department of Agriculture, Members from various Self Groups, farmers from surrounding villages & students from the various colleges attended the event.
