Punjab Sikhya Kranti: Hardeep Singh Mundian dedicates infrastructure development projects worth Rs 71.66 lakh in four govt schools

Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today dedicated infrastructure development projects worth Rs 71.66 lakh at four government primary schools in the Sahnewal constituency. The inaugurated projects at Government Primary Schools (GPS) Ramgarh, Kohara, Bhagpur and Government High School (GHS), Bhagpur mark a significant step in the Punjab Sikhya Kranti initiative to revolutionize education across the state.

In GPS Ramgrah, three smart classrooms were constructed at a cost of Rs 23.66 lakh, fostering a modern and secure learning environment. Similarly, at GPS Kohara, two smart classrooms, built for Rs 15 lakh. In GPS Bhagpur, four smart classrooms were constructed at a cost of Rs 30 lakh and a boundary wall was built in GHS, Bhagpur at a cost of Rs 3 lakh.

During the inauguration ceremonies, Minister Mundian highlighted the Punjab government’s commitment to revolutionizing education through Rs 2,000 crore investment under the Punjab Sikhya Kranti initiative. The program focuses on upgrading infrastructure, including modern school buildings, smart classrooms, updated furniture, state-of-the-art laboratories, secure boundary walls, clean drinking water, and well-equipped libraries.

Mundian underscored the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) 2022 election pledge to overhaul Punjab’s education and health sectors, stating, “We promised world-class infrastructure, and top-tier training. Today, we are fulfilling that commitment.” He noted that 56,700 government jobs have been awarded transparently, ensuring merit-based opportunities.

With approximately 28 lakh students enrolled in Punjab’s 20,000 government schools, many of whom previously studied in substandard conditions, the government has made significant progress over the past three years. Key achievements include providing Wi-Fi connectivity to 17,000 schools for digital learning and recruiting new teachers to ensure quality education.

Children of the schools and residents of four villages expressed gratitude for the infrastructure upgrades. Dharamjeet Singh from Ramgarh, “The new smart classrooms have made our school a better place for learning. He thanked the Punjab government for prioritizing children’s education.” Sukhdev Singh also added, “These developments show Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s commitment to our children’s future.” Harmandeep Singh from Bhagpur noted, “The new boundary wall ensures our children’s safety, and we are grateful for this work.
